Early Life

Major General El-Khweldi El-Hamedi was born and raised in the city of Sirman. His father, Muhammad Bin Saleh, was a farmer and owned a farm in the area of Qalil, located between the cities of Sirman and Sabratha. He received his basic education at the Central School of Sirman and completed his secondary education in the city of Zawiyah. After graduating from the General Secondary School, he joined the Military College and became a second lieutenant in August 1965. He began his military career as a member of

one of the Royal Battalions stationed in the city of Derna before being transferred to the city of Sabha. He was later appointed assistant commander of the 1st Idris Battalion, which was transferred to the city of Tarhunna. This battalion played a crucial role in the September 1 Revolution in 1969, crawling into the city of Tripoli to occupy the radio building and surround the Royal Palace, led by Colonel El-Khweldi Mohammad Al-Hamedi.

Family

Major General El-Khweldi El-Hamedi married his cousin, Alhajja / Aisha El-Hamidi, who was a professor of history with a Master’s degree from Alfateh University in Tripoli. They had nine children, including six daughters and three sons. One of his sons, Khaled El-Khweldi has achieved academic and professional success, earning a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Al-Fateh University and a Master’s degree in business administration and communications from the International University of Geneva.

He also heads a non-governmental organization, indicating his commitment to public service and community engagement. Another of his sons, Muhammad El-Khweldi, serves in the Libyan army as a captain and graduated from the British Royal College.
